Edgewood Man Died In Philadelphia Road Crash: Police

Police said a Harford County man was killed Sunday morning in Baltimore County.

BALTIMORE COUNTY, MD — An Edgewood man died early Sunday morning after he crashed head-on into a truck on Philadelphia Road in Baltimore County and another crash ensued, officials said. One driver was injured, according to the Baltimore County Police Department.

Alvarenga Cruz, 54, of the 1200 block of Hanson Road, was pronounced deceased at the scene on Philadelphia Road at Hospital Drive, according to police.

Investigators said that Cruz had been driving a 2002 Honda Civic east on Philadelphia Road when he crossed the line and hit a 2013 Isuzu cargo box truck that was going west. Afterwards, a Ford Crown Victoria that had been headed east on Philadelphia Road hit the Civic and pushed it into a parked Honda CRV, police reported.

Authorities said they were called at 12:33 a.m. on Sunday to Philadelphia Road at Hospital Drive, where Cruz was dead at the scene.

The driver of the box truck was being treated at a local hospital for injuries that were believed to non-life-threatening, police said. The driver of the Crown Victoria was unharmed, officials reported.
