Edgewood Shooting Victim Hospitalized: Sheriff

An 18-year-old is recovering after he was shot in Edgewood on Monday, April 8, authorities said.

EDGEWOOD, MD — An Edgewood teen was shot and injured Monday night in what is believed to be a drive-by shooting. He is expected to survive, according to the Harford County Sheriff's Office.

The 18-year-old is at the University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center, officials reported on Tuesday, April 9.

Authorities said the teen was walking on Harford Square Drive at O Court before 8 p.m. Monday when a vehicle drove up to him, and one of those inside the vehicle opened fire.

Deputies in the area of Walton Road were on another call when they said they heard what sounded like gunshots and began canvassing the area at 7:52 p.m., officials said.

They were looking for a victim or a crime scene, officials said, when at 8:05 p.m., they learned the victim was taken to Franklin Square Hospital, in a private vehicle, for treatment of a gunshot wound. Subsequently, he was taken to the University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center.

The teen was believed to have been walking on Harford Square Drive at O Court when a vehicle approached and someone inside opened fire.

Detectives were still working to canvass the area on Tuesday, authorities said.
