Edgewood Townhouse Fire Caused By Bathroom Fan: Fire Marshal
There was $10,000 in damage as the result of a townhouse fire in Edgewood Wednesday morning, the fire marshal reported.

EDGEWOOD, MD — Fire that broke out at an Edgewood townhouse early Wednesday morning has been traced to a bathroom fixture. Those inside heard a "pop" and found the second-floor bathroom exhaust fan was ablaze, according to the Office of the State Fire Marshal.
The fire at the middle-of-the-group townhouse in the 1800 block of Eloise Lane was reported at 4:40 a.m. on Wednesday, June 5. The fire marshal said there were working smoke detectors at the home.
About 20 firefighters from the Joppa-Magnolia Volunteer Fire Company responded and brought the fire under control within 10 minutes, officials said.

"Investigators credit the quick actions of the fire department in containing the fire to the fan and immediate ceiling and attic area," the fire marshal reported.
There was approximately $5,000 in structural damage, and about $5,000 worth of items inside were also lost, according to investigators. Nobody was injured, the fire marshal reported.
