Tow Truck Arson Investigation Underway In Edgewood

EDGEWOOD, MD — An arson investigation is underway after a truck was found burned in Edgewood over the weekend. The Office of the State Fire Marshal is asking the public for assistance in understanding what happened.
At 5:24 a.m. on Sunday, a passerby reported a vehicle ablaze in the area of Beckon at Agate Drive.
The Abingdon Fire Company responded and had the fire under control within five minutes, officials said.

Investigators determined the fire started inside the 2005 Chevrolet Silverado tow truck and the cause was incendiary, meaning it was intentionally set.
There was $18,000 in damage to the truck, which was owned by Timeout Towing & Recovery. The fire also damaged $2,000 worth of items inside the vehicle, the fire marshal reported.
