Emergency Operations Center in Harford Gets Smoke Scare

Firefighters responded to the public safety building in Forest Hill for a reported building fire.

FOREST HILL, MD – It was a “somewhat eventful evening,” the Harford County Department of Emergency Services reported Saturday morning.

The Harford County Emergency Operations Center was activated Friday ahead of a 2-foot snowfall forecast for the area.

Officials had converged at the Harford County Emergency Operations Center Friday night to discuss the impending blizzard when smoke was reported at their meeting place in the 2200 block of Ady Road in Forest Hill.

The call came in as a building fire but ended up being a smoke investigation, according to Mike Laslo, spokesman for the Harford County Volunteer Fire and EMS Association.

The Bel Air Volunteer Fire Company, which responded to the incident, determined that the source was a water heat pump, Laslo said.
