Evacuation At Youths Benefit Elementary: Officials Identify Issue

There was a brief evacuation at Youths Benefit Elementary School in Fallston Thursday morning, authorities reported.

FALLSTON, MD — Youths Benefit Elementary School was briefly evacuated Thursday morning due to a reported gas leak inside the building. Nobody was injured, and there were no illnesses associated with the incident, officials said.

Crews called to the elementary school in the 1900 block of Fallston Road around 8:30 a.m. found a malfunction in the boiler room, according to the Fallston Volunteer Fire and Ambulance Company.

During the investigation, students who were in the school's before-care program were moved to the Chenowith Center, authorities reported, while students arriving by bus were kept on the vehicles until the school was deemed safe by officials.

At 9:05 a.m., Fallston first responders said that students were being allowed into the school, where the situation had been addressed.

Officials with Harford County Public Schools facilities were on-site, authorities reported.
