78-Year-Old Fallston Man Killed In Collision With Harford County Dump Truck: Sheriff
A 78-year-old Fallston man was killed in a crash involving a Harford County dump truck, according to the Harford County Sheriff's Office.
HARFORD COUNTY, MD — A 78-year-old Fallston man was killed when his BMW 328i crashed into a Harford County dump truck Thursday around 12:45 p.m.
The crash happened on Route 165 in the area of Furnace Road and Huntfield Way. A preliminary investigation indicates that the construction vehicle, driven by Scott Thommen, 54, of Delta was maneuvering around an active work zone at the intersections of Route 165, Furnace Road and Huntfield Way.
John Derwart was heading northbound on Route 165 through the intersection when the two vehicles collided. No passengers were in the construction vehicle, while one passenger, Joan Bridges, 81, of Fallston was in the BMW. Bridges was taken to a local hospital as a precautionary measure. Derwart was pronounced dead on the scene, according to the Harford County Sheriff's Office.
