Fan Sparks Fire In Attic Of Belcamp Townhome Reported By Neighbor: State Fire Marshal

An attic fan malfunctioned and sparked a fire in a townhome located in Belcamp Sunday night, according to the Maryland Fire Marshal's Office

HARFORD COUNTY, MD — A two-story townhouse in the middle of a group of townhomes caught on fire Sunday night around 10 p.m.

Located at 1218 Brice Square in Belcamp, the townhome suffered an estimated $5,000 in damage. The fire originated in the attic, according to the Maryland State Fire Marshal's Office, and has been ruled accidental due to the electrical failure of an attic fan. A neighbor spied smoke rolling out from under the eaves of the home while the residents were heading to bed. They were able to escape without injury, the fire marshal's office reported.

Fifteen firefighters from the Abingdon Fire Company responded to the fire, which took them five minutes to control.
