EDGEWOOD, MD - Route 40 has reopened in both directions following a fatal crash.

The Abingdon Fire Company and a medic unit from the Joppa-Magnolia Volunteer Fire Company are on scene of a serious motor vehicle accident in the area of Route 40 and West Shore Drive.
There is one confirmed fatality, according to the Joppa-Magnolia VFC.
Route 40 is currently closed in both directions. Residents are urged to avoid the area.
