Fire Burns 3-Bay Garage Full Of Farm Equipment, Tools, Machinery

Fire investigators estimate damages and content loss from Monday's early morning fire in Darlington at around $500K.

DARLINGTON, MD — A three-bay garage full of machinery, tools and farm equipment caught on fire early Monday morning.

The property owner's son, who also lives on the premises located in the 1700 block of Castleton Road, received an alert of a burglary at the garage around 1:45 a.m. When he checked on the garage, he discovered a fire instead.

Around 40 firefighters with the Darlington Volunteer Fire Company spent upwards of an hour battling the blaze. The state fire marshal's office has been investigating the fire and said that the cause is still being pinpointed, including the active charging of lithium ion batteries.
