Fire At Clear Meadow Farm Under Investigation

A barn fire caused tens of thousands of dollars in damage at a farm in Harford County over the weekend, the fire marshal reported.

WHITE HALL, MD — A barn in White Hall went up in flames over the weekend. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.

The barn in the 3100 block of Troyer Road was ablaze in the early hours of Saturday, Aug. 25, according to the Office of the State Fire Marshal. The structure is part of Clear Meadow Farm, which provides agricultural products and services and is known also for its sunflower fields.

A passerby reported the single-story wooden barn was on fire at 3:28 a.m., and crews battled the blaze for two hours before bringing it under control.

The Jarrettsville Volunteer Fire Company was the primary fire department at the scene, officials said, with 10 firefighters responding. The barn was full of hay, according to the Jarrettsville Volunteer Fire Company.

There was $80,000 in damage, of which $20,000 was structural damage to the wood-framed barn, according to the fire marshal, who estimated about $60,000 worth of items inside were also lost.

The origin and cause of the fire remain under investigation, officials reported Sunday, Aug. 26.
