Wood Stove Led to Jarrettsville Blaze: Fire Marshal
House was considered a total loss in fire that spread from residence to the woods in Jarrettsville Tuesday afternoon, fire marshal says.

JARRETTSVILLE, MD ā Officials say crews from Maryland and Pennsylvania battled a fire in Jarrettsville Tuesday afternoon.
The fire broke out after noon at a residence in the 3200 block of Sharon Road, according to Rich Gardiner, spokesman for the Harford County Volunteer Fire and EMS Association.
Gardiner said the fire spread to the woods nearby and was under control by 12:30 p.m.

Approximately 40 firefighters responded to the fire, which began outside the home, the Office of the State Fire Marshal reported.
An ember from a wood stove ignited brush and nearby foliage, and the resident became aware of the issue upon smelling smoke, according to the fire marshal.

The resident tried to use a garden hose to put out the blaze but due to high winds, officials said he was unsuccessful.
The house was considered a total loss, with $25,000 in structural damage and $25,000 worth of items inside lost as well, according to the fire marshal.
Officials said there were no injuries as a result of the incident.
