Firefighters Battle 2-Alarm Harford County Blaze During Heat Wave
The house fire in Harford County Sunday caused more than $800,000 in damage, officials said.

HARFORD COUNTY, MD — The cause of a Sunday afternoon house fire in Harford County remains under investigation, the fire marshal reported Monday. Investigators said the blaze caused $825,000 in damage.
A resident discovered the fire in the 3600 block of Hollands Branch Court in Street at 1:38 p.m., officials said.
Crews led by the Darlington Volunteer Fire Company encountered heavy fire and called for a second alarm, according to Jenn Chenworth of the Harford County Volunteer Fire and EMS Association.

By 3 p.m., she said the blaze had been declared under control. A large amount of firefighting apparatus was in the area. A rehab unit was summoned to provide hydration for those battling the fire as the heat index was 97 degrees. The Bel Air Volunteer Fire Company reported it sent three engines, a rehab unit and two chiefs to assist in the firefight.
Nobody was injured in the fire, which investigators said began inside the garage.

There was $575,000 in structural damage to the home, the fire marshal reported, while $250,000 worth of items inside were also lost.
