Firefighters were at the scene of a chimney fire in Bel Air Thursday afternoon, officials reported.

At approximately 2:45 p.m., the Joppa-Magnolia Volunteer Fire Company reported that it was called to a dwelling fire in the 1700 block of Woodhome Drive, which is a cross-street of Patterson Mill Road.

The flames extended from the chimney into the home, according to Rich Gardiner, spokesman for the Harford County Volunteer Fire and EMS Association, who said there were no injuries as a result of the blaze.

One of Bel Air’s fire engines was filling in Thursday for firefighters in Baltimore City who were attending the funeral of Lt. James Bethea, the fire safety officer who died of smoke inhalation in a vacant home last week.
