Flash Flood Watch Issued For Parts Of Maryland

A flash flood watch is in effect, with weather officials advising more severe weather may be on the way.

BALTIMORE, MD — Rain is in the forecast this weekend, and for parts of central and northeastern Maryland, there could be flooding as well. The National Weather Service has issued a flash flood watch for several counties and Baltimore City from Saturday morning to early Sunday.

"Heavy showers and thunderstorms are likely this afternoon and evening," the National Weather Service said in a statement Saturday morning. "Be extra alert for flooding and rapidly changing conditions."

Heavy rain in a short time can lead to flash flooding, or a rapid rise in water level.
