Flood Watch In Effect Through Early Wednesday For Harford Co.

HARFORD COUNTY, MD — A flood watch remains in effect all day Tuesday until 2 a.m. Wednesday for Harford County, according to the National Weather Service serving the Baltimore/Washington, D.C., region.

There is a risk of flash flooding caused by excessive rainfall Tuesday affecting central, northeast and northern Maryland, including northwest and southeast Harford County.

Strong to severe thunderstorms are likely Tuesday with multiple rounds expected. Damaging winds, large hail and an isolated tornado are possible, the NWS stated.

"Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers, creeks, streams and other low-lying and flood-prone locations. Flooding may occur in poor drainage and urban areas," the National Weather Service stated.

The flooding stems from strong to severe thunderstorms pushing their way across the area with a humid air mass in place. Forecasts predict "very heavy rainfall" coming out of the storms, with rates of 1 to 2 inches per hour.
