Despite a dominating first half, the Hawks (5-1) found themselves with only a six-point lead entering the second half. “We needed to make a play to get back in the game,” Stinar said. “We kind of got down at halftime, and just needed to step it up and make a play.”

(2-4) battled with North Harford throughout most of the game, but the Hawks offense, which allowed Stinar to pull back and run often, proved too much for the Bobcats to handle.

head coach Ken Brinkman was impressed with the way his team handled the high-caliber offense Friday.

“The base of our offense is our option,” Brinkman said. “We were able to move the ball, and we were fortunate to get some big plays out of that and put this one away.”

Bel Air’s biggest momentum boost came with just 40 seconds left in the first half, when running back broke loose for an 83-yard touchdown run, closing the gap to 19-13. But the Bobcats could not stop the Hawks offense.

“We had a scheme to try and stop the option; the problem is there are multiple different ways to block it,” Bel Air . “They caught us a few times with their formations, our guys had to stretch out and cover passes versus the option. [North Harford] runs the option well. They pull it late, so it’s tough to read and our guys got sucked in. They do a really good job, which is why they are successful.”

Bel Air plays Aberdeen at home next Friday.

North Harford will host Havre de Grace at next week's homecoming game.

“We want to pick the kids back up now and get ready,” Brinkman said. “We’re coming off of two good wins now and need to get ready and play homecoming.”
