Bel Air Woman Died In Forest Hill Crash: Police

A Bel Air driver was involved in a fatal chain-reaction crash near a construction zone Monday afternoon in Forest Hill.

FOREST HILL, MD — A Bel Air woman died in a crash involving multiple vehicles in Forest Hill Monday afternoon, according to Maryland State Police. One additional driver was hospitalized as a result of the four-vehicle collision, which police said occurred near a construction area.

According to authorities, 27-year-old Georgina Marie Schulz, of Bel Air, failed to slow down in a construction area where traffic was stopped. Her vehicle hit another, which caused two others to collide.

Schulz was driving a blue Subaru Forester east on Route 23/East-West Highway when she approached a construction zone, where traffic was stopped at Grafton Shop Road.

Traffic was reduced to a single lane and a flagging crew was at work, according to authorities.

At about 12:40 p.m., Shulz hit the back of a Toyota Sequoia, and the force of that caused two other vehicles to be hit in a chain-reaction crash, according to officials.

Shulz, who was not wearing a seat belt, was taken by Bel Air Volunteer Fire Company ambulance to Upper Chesapeake Medical Center, where she was pronounced dead, police said.

The driver of the Toyota Sequoia was also taken to Upper Chesapeake by ambulance, according to officials.

Route 23 was closed for two hours as state police conducted an investigation, which is ongoing.

Previous report: A crash in Forest Hill has closed all lanes of MD 23 at Grafton Shop Road Monday afternoon, according to officials.

The collision involved four vehicles, state transportation officials said. It occurred at the intersection of Route 23 (East/West Highway) at Grafton Shop Road at about 1 p.m.

All lanes were closed at the intersection as a result of the crash, officials reported after 2 p.m.
