Forest Hill Marine Helps Team Win Turkey Bowl

While stationed in Japan, military members including Harford County man held their own Thanksgiving Day football game.

The U.S. Marine Corps provided the following information.

Cpl. Ryder Ford of Forest Hill punted a football during the first “Turkey Bowl” event sponsored by the United Service Organization (USO) on Thanksgiving Day at Camp Hansen in Okinawa, Japan.

The event consisted of three-man teams that competed in three different events: longest pass, most accurate pass and longest-distance punt. Ford’s team—”The Average Joes”—scored 94 points over the course of the three events.

The winning team’s photo will be hung in the USO until next Thanksgiving.

Ford is an infantry assaultman with 1st Battalion, 1st Marine Regiment, currently assigned to 4th Marine Regiment under the unit deployment program.
