Fourth of July Parade, Fireworks Get Boost from BGE

Bel Air, MD — The Fourth of July festivities in Bel Air are being sponsored by BGE, which also has reason to celebrate this summer, according to the utility company.

BGE is celebrating its 200-year anniversary this year, and it is spreading the love by sponsoring a host of Fourth of July events in central Maryland, including the parade and fireworks in Bel Air.

“BGE’s bicentennial is a milestone for our entire region and we hope our customers will celebrate along with us at baseball games and Independence Day festivals this summer,” BGE’s Vice President of Governmental and External Affairs Valencia McClure said in a statement. “In the BGE tradition, we’re supporting activities the entire family can enjoy.”  

The Bel Air Fourth of July festivities will begin at 6:45 a.m. on Monday, July 4, with a flag raising. 

A variety of activities—from a pancake breakfast to a costume contest—will continue throughout the day. The parade starts at 6 p.m. on Idlewild and South Main Street. The theme for the 2016 parade is "Hometown Heroes."

Fireworks will be at 9:30 p.m. at Rockfield Park.
