Full Schedule for Bel Air's 'Olde-Fashioned Fourth of July'

The Bel Air Independence Day Committee has released the full schedule for the 2015 celebration, which has the theme of an “Olde-Fashioned Fourth of July.”

Here’s the rundown of events planned for Saturday, July 4:

6:45 a.m.—Flag-raising at Bel Air High School, featuring Disabled American Veterans, Chapter 30 and American Legion Post #39 and musical accompaniment.

7 a.m.—Blueberry pancake and sausage breakfast in the courtyard of the Bel Air High School cafeteria. Admission is $7 for adults and $4 for children.

8 a.m.—Registration for horseshoe pitching in the playing fields at Rockfield Manor.

8:30 a.m.—Horshoe pitching at Rockfield Manor.

9 a.m.—Guided tours of Hays House conducted by docents in period costumes. The Catherine Street Consort will play period music and country music.

9 a.m.—Face painting, the turtle derby, Great Bel Air Frog Jumping Contest, watermelon eating contest and Uncle Sam Says at Shamrock Park.

11 a.m.—Bicycle rodeo at Bel Air Elementary School. Trophies will be awarded for the best decorated bike, both boys and girls; and there will be awards for age groups 5 and under, 6-8, 9-10, and 11-13.

6 p.m.—The Bel Air Independence Day Parade begins on South Main Street at Idlewild Street.

9:30 p.m.—Fireworks display over Rockfield Park. If the fireworks are cancelled due to inclement weather, the town will make the announcement on WBAL-AM 1090, WXCY-FM 103.7 and WAMD-AM 970, and reschedule the show for 9:30 p.m. on Sunday, July 5, 2015.
