Gas Leak Cleared Out Block in Edgewood: Officials

Harford County emergency personnel and BGE responded to gas leak in townhouse community.

Residents were evacuated in part of Edgewood Tuesday morning due to a gas leak, according to the Harford County Volunteer Fire and EMS Association.

The Joppa-Magnolia Volunteer Fire Company was dispatched to the 1300 block of Harford Square Drive at 11:07 a.m. for an odor of gas outside.

Firefighters were able to detect that levels of natural gas in the air were high, according to the fire company.

After 11:30 a.m., emergency officials reported that those in 1376 to 1392 Harford Square Drive were being evacuated and BGE was at the scene.

Approximately 10 people who had been home at the time were temporarily evacuated, and Harford County partially activated its Emergency Operations Center to assist, according to Joppa-Magnolia.

By 1:30 p.m., the leak had been repaired, and BGE and first responders cleared the scene, according to the fire company.
