HARFORD COUNTY, MD — The Harford County Health Department offices have closed. Citing concern about the spread of the new coronavirus, officials said they would be handling inquiries by phone.

"Due to the current Maryland State of Emergency, the Harford County Health Department buildings will be closed to the public to reduce the risk of customer exposure to Coronavirus COVID-19," the Harford County Health Department said in a statement released Tuesday, March 17.

The health department has offices in Aberdeen, Bel Air, Edgewood and Havre de Grace, all of which are now closed to the public.

"All of our employees have been ordered to telework," Dr. Russell Moy said, speaking before the Harford County Council Tuesday evening. The Harford County Health Department is a state agency, and state workers have been ordered to telework by the governor.

Moy said his office was working on possibly maintaining some hours by appointment with social distancing in the future. As of Tuesday, however, the Harford County Health Department offices were closed to the public.
