First free laptop distribution event for qualified applicants will be held Saturday, March 9 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Edgewood Library
For those with limited incomes, accessing a personal computer can be difficult. Harford County is offering help by distributing 2,500 laptops countywide through the Maryland Connected Devices program. The first free laptop distribution event for qualified applicants will be held on Saturday, March 9 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Edgewood public library, 629 Edgewood Road, hosted by the Harford County Department of Housing & Community Services.
Harford County residents including veterans, who earn no more than 200% of the federal poverty level or receive government assistance may be eligible for approval. To receive a laptop on Saturday, eligible applicants must bring proof of income (W2’s, pay stubs or proof of government assistance benefits, i.e. Snap, WIC, TCH, etc.) and proof of residency to be verified. Applications and full eligibility requirements can be found at www.harfordcountymd.gov/FreeLaptops. Applications will also be available onsite Saturday.
During the event laptops will be distributed on a first come, first served basis.

The laptops are being distributed through a partnership between Harford County and the Maryland Connected Devices program. The $30 million grant program was developed to provide new, internet-enabled devices to families in need through the Maryland Department of Housing and Community Development in support of the Office of Statewide Broadband. Approximately 120 laptops have already been distributed through the program.
The Edgewood library was chosen as the first distribution site for its accessibility to the community and to further the county executive’s efforts to focus resources in the area through the Southern County Taskforce. The mission of the taskforce is to improve the quality of life for residents along Harford County’s Rt. 40 corridor through county departments, businesses, citizens, and other entities.
