Harford County Seeks Public Input on Building Code Updates

Harford County is seeking public input as it begins a state-mandated update to local building codes. The updates must comply with recent changes adopted by the International Code Council and National Fire Protection Association along with applicable Maryland State laws.

The Harford County Department of Inspections, Licenses and Permits (DILP) will gather public input on the proposed changes through August 31, 2023. The proposed changes and an email address to submit comments are available on the county website at https://www.harfordcountymd.gov/289/Inspections-Licenses-Permits-DILP.

DILP will review public feedback before drafting legislation that will then be shared with the appropriate Harford County advisory boards for additional input. Another public comment period will be scheduled in October, before legislation is submitted to the Harford County Council for final approval.
