Harford County Teacher Of The Year 2020: 'Champion Of Technology'
During the coronavirus pandemic, officials said this Harford Technical High School educator has been going above and beyond.
BEL AIR, MD — In the first ever virtual ceremony, officials revealed the 2020 Harford County Public Schools Teacher of the Year is Harford Technical High School's own Elizabeth White. The social studies teacher has worked for 12 year in the school system, where her career started at Edgewood High School.
Harford Technical High School Principal Joseph Collins called White a "master teacher" and "champion of using technology to maximize learning."
She sponsors Harford Tech's student government association and is someone who "loves what she does and expresses it every day in her classroom," Collins said.

I was honored to get a “shout-out” on the @HCPSchools Facebook page today! Seeing these photos from pre-Coronavirus made me really miss my students and classroom. pic.twitter.com/VHuFJwt3i7

Since schools have been conducted remotely, administrators said White's light has been shining even brighter.
"You can see each day on her social media accounts why Mrs. White has earned this title. Even during everything going on in the world around us, Mrs. White is ensuring her students know she’s here for them," Bulson said. "I encourage you to follow her on social media through the upcoming year and I’m proud to announce Mrs. White as Harford County’s 2020 Teacher of the Year."

Being Harford County Teacher of the Year has perks beyond the title. White was given a free year-long lease for a 2020 Nissan Rogue courtesy of Jones Junction as well as a Dell laptop, big-screen television from National Teachers Associates Life Insurance Company, a custom ring from Jostens and a watch from Saxon's Diamond Centers.
All finalists and White received $1,200 from Har-Co Credit Union.
White will compete with teachers of the year from around the state to determine who will become the Maryland Teacher of the Year, an honor that will be announced in October.
