Harford County Executive Bob Cassilly today made a personal donation of $2,893 to The Arc Northern Chesapeake Region, a local nonprofit serving citizens with differing abilities. The amount represents the difference between the county executive’s legally mandated salary increase for next year, which by law rises with the rate of inflation, and the salary increase budgeted for county employees.

“In a difficult budget year, I am unwilling to accept a salary increase higher than the modest increase we were able to provide for our county government employees,” County Executive Cassilly said. “I tried to reduce my salary increase but wasn’t able to do that legally, so I wanted to put the funds to good use in our community. The Arc Northern Chesapeake empowers people with differing abilities to lead full and productive lives, and I am honored to help support their important mission.”
