Harford Helps Baltimore County As Explosion Response Continues
An explosion in Baltimore City prompted Harford County firefighters to make a shift to assist.
HARFORD COUNTY, MD — Crews from Harford County have been called to staff Baltimore County fire stations Monday afternoon, as emergency personnel from around the region respond to an explosion in northwest Baltimore.
Baltimore County has asked for assistance covering its jurisdiction, the Harford County Volunteer Fire and EMS Association reported before 1 p.m.
"We sent three units," Jennifer Chenworth, spokesperson for the association, told Patch. Harford County has a mutual aid agreement with Baltimore County, she said, adding she was sure that Baltimore County was assisting Baltimore City in responding to other incidents as well due to the explosion requiring resources. She said Harford County was still fully staffed after sending three engines to stations in the eastern part of Baltimore County.

No Harford County crews were called to the explosion itself, she said.
Several homes were leveled by what the Baltimore Fire Department called a "major gas explosion" before 10 a.m. Monday.

About 200 first responders were at the scene on Labyrinth at Reisterstown roads in northwest Baltimore midday, officials said. One person died and several others were injured in the explosion, according to authorities.
