BEL AIR, MD — The Harford Mall closed its doors Thursday until further notice, as ordered by Maryland Gov. Larry Hogan. All enclosed shopping malls and entertainment venues have been forced by executive order to close at 5 p.m. Thursday, March 19, as the state aims to stop the spread of the new coronavirus.

Stores that have exterior entrances may remain open, according to the Harford Mall, which said that includes six businesses.

Earlier in the week, the governor ordered restaurants to stop serving dine-in customers but said that drive-thru, carryout and food delivery service can continue. The day before that, he mandated Maryland's casinos and racetracks to close at midnight until further notice.

Among the new cases is a 5-year-old girl in Howard County, "the first case of a child contracting the virus here in Maryland," Hogan said.
