BEL AIR, MD — The Harford Mall will be reopening Saturday, June 20. Mall officials made the announcement Thursday, the day before the governor's order allowing enclosed shopping centers to again welcome people inside their doors.

Mall interiors across the state have been closed to pedestrians since March to prevent the spread of the coronavirus.

At 5 p.m. on Friday, June 19, gyms, malls and casinos will be allowed to reopen, with safety measures in place such as 50 percent capacity in retail shops.

Harford Mall will take the following precautions and may incorporate others in alignment with the guidelines established by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), officials said:

  • Requiring those who enter to wear a mask or protective face covering
  • Limiting seating in the food court to comply with social distancing guidelines
  • Closing these public gathering areas until further notice
    • Children’s play area and kiddie rides
    • Soft seating areas and common area gathering spaces
    • Drinking fountains
  • Prohibiting groups of more than 10 people congregating in the mall common area
  • Canceling or postponing mall events until further notice
  • Putting hand sanitizer units throughout the property
  • Checking temperatures of mall management, security members and janitorial staff at the start of each shift. Anyone with a fever of 100.4 degrees Fahrenheit or higher and/or with other symptoms must go home and contact a health care provider.
  • Cleaning and sanitizing high-traffic common areas frequently and using CDC-suggested cleaning products on high-touch areas.

All stores and restaurants will be expected to follow guidelines outlined by Gov. Larry Hogan, such as using social distancing markers in checkout lines and limiting occupancy, among others.

The Harford Mall hours will be 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday to Saturday, and 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday.
