Harford Schools Invite Parents To Active Assailant Training Event

The superintendent and sheriff are among those who will talk about critical incident training for Harford County Public Schools.

HARFORD COUNTY, MD — Parents and community members are invited this week to learn about the new active shooter training used in Harford County Public Schools. The event is part of the Harford County Public Schools Parent Academy and will be held in partnership with the Harford County Sheriff's Office.

In addition to active assailant critical response training, presenters will cover topics like how they assess behavioral threats, the approach to reporting threats and plans that schools have for reuniting after a critical incident.

  • Harford County Public Schools Chief of Safety and Security Donoven Brooks
  • Harford County Public Schools Executive Director of Student Support Services Bernard Hennigan
  • Harford County Sheriff Jeffrey R. Gahler

The event is free and open to the public. Registration is requested.

"Safe Schools Support Students' Success" is the title of the event, which will be from 6 to 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 23, at Harford Technical High School, 200 Thomas Run Road, Bel Air.
