Harford Weather: 102 Degrees On The Heat Index Forecast
The National Weather Service issued a hazardous weather outlook and air quality alert for Harford, which is opening cooling centers Tuesday.

HARFORD COUNTY, MD — Temperatures are expected to be in the mid 90s in Harford County on Tuesday, and they will feel like the triple digits for much of the afternoon. Wednesday is expected to be even hotter, according to the National Weather Service.
Cooling centers will be open for those who need someplace air-conditioned to go on Tuesday and Wednesday in Harford County.
"...heat indices around 100 degrees are expected this afternoon and early evening," Tuesday's hazardous weather outlook says. "A combination of heat and humidity will likely result in heat index values of around 105 Wednesday. Heat may linger into Thursday..."

Here's a timeline of the "feels like" temperatures, based on the National Weather Service forecast for Tuesday, Aug. 28, in Harford County:
- 10 a.m.: 91 degrees
- 11 a.m.: 99 degrees
- Noon: 100 degrees
- 1 p.m.: 101 degrees
- 2 p.m.: 100 degrees
- 3 p.m.: 101 degrees
- 4 p.m.: 102 degrees
- 5 p.m.: 102 degrees
- 6 p.m.: 100 degrees
- 7 p.m.: 98 degrees

There is a heat advisory south of Harford County — from Baltimore to Fredericksburg, Virginia — from noon to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 28.

A code orange air quality alert has been issued for the Baltimore metropolitan area on Tuesday, Aug. 28, including Harford County. Other jurisdictions where the alert applies are Arundel, Baltimore, Carroll, Harford and Howard counties as well as Baltimore City.
The alert means that pollution concentrations may be unhealthy for sensitive groups.
Children, older adults, heart/lung disease sufferers and asthmatics are considered sensitive; they should avoid strenuous activity and outdoor exercise Tuesday to minimize the effects from the air quality, according to the Maryland Department of the Environment, which issued the alert.
Cooling Centers Open In Harford County On Tuesday, Aug. 28, and Wednesday, Aug. 29
People are invited to cool off inside the air conditioning at library branches around the county. Hours are 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Tuesday at all branches, except at Darlington.
