Heavy Fire in North Harford Injured One, Officials Say

One firefighter was injured in Friday afternoon residential blaze, the Darlington Volunteer Fire Company reported.

Firefighters battled heavy smoke and flames when responding to a house fire in north Harford Friday, according to the Darlington Volunteer Fire Company.

The blaze in the 3500 block of Mill Green Road broke out at approximately noon, the fire company reported.

Within 15 minutes, crews from Darlington and surrounding companies extinguished most of the fire, which was in the back of the house, according to the report.

One firefighter was treated for debris in the eye and released, the report said.

For three hours after the fire was out, approximately 25 firefighters from Darlington, Bel Air, Whiteford, Jarrettsville and Level were at the scene to ensure there were no lingering hot spots, according to the report.

The Bel Air Volunteer Fire Company sent four engines, two chiefs and auxiliary members as part of the response, the fire company reported.

Mill Green Road was closed at Scarboro Road during the operation, according to Rich Gardiner, spokesman for the Harford County Volunteer Fire and EMS Association.

The Office of the State Fire Marshal was reportedly investigating the cause of the fire.
