Drill In Bel Air Brings Police, Fire, Health Officials Together
The Bel Air Police Department and other agencies participated in a drill on Sunday, July 29.

BEL AIR, MD — Police and fire personnel practiced what to do in the event of an active shooter Sunday morning. The drill was conducted at Bel Air High School and Upper Chesapeake Medical Center.
There were 17 citizens playing victims who were treated and transported in the incident, according to the Bel Air Volunteer Fire Company.
"Much was learned from this training, and we will incorporate those lessons learned into our planning," said Rich Gardiner of the Bel Air Volunteer Fire Company. "We will continue to train for these events to make ourselves better and ensure the best care and response possible to those we are called upon to help."

During the active assailant drill, Bel Air police advised there may be traffic delays around the school on Kenmore Avenue and other streets around Bel Air High School.

While the Bel Air Police Department and the Bel Air Volunteer Fire Company hosted the exercise, these agencies participated:

- Harford County Department of Emergency Services
- Harford County Public Schools
- Harford County Sheriff’s Office
- Maryland State Police
- Upper Chesapeake Medical Center.
