Heroin Overdoses In Harford Surpass 2016 Year-End Total: Sheriff

The latest overdose numbers in Harford County mark a grim milestone.

BEL AIR, MD - Before the year is 70 percent complete, officials say that Harford County has exceeded the number of fatal and nonfatal overdoses that occurred as a result of heroin in 2016.

There have been 298 heroin-related overdoses total so far this year, the Harford County Sheriff's Office reported Monday; of those, 59 were deadly.

Last year, there were 290 overdoses, of which 56 were deadly, the sheriff's office said.

The Harford County Sheriff's Office directs people to the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration to get help for addiction.
