High Water Closes MD 7: State Highway Administration

Part of Philadelphia Road is closed in Abingdon Monday due to high water, state highway officials say.

ABINGDON, MD — Drivers should use extra caution on MD 7 in Harford County Monday afternoon, according to authorities.

High water was reported on MD 7/Philadelphia Road at Calvary Road, the Maryland State Highway Administration said after 2 p.m.

All lanes were closed on Route 7 at Calvary Road due to the flooding, officials reported. Drivers should take alternate routes. Turn around; don't drown.

Harford County is under a flood warning until 7:45 p.m.

Between 2 and 3 inches of rain have fallen, the National Weather Service reported before 1:45 p.m., and officials said 0.5 to 1.5 inches of rain may still fall during the warning period.

The gauge at Otter Point Creek in Edgewood was approaching minor flood stage due to excessive rain from thunderstorms before 1:45 p.m., according to the National Weather Service.

A tornado watch is in effect until 7 p.m. on Monday.
