Holiday Gallery in Havre de Grace Surpasses Last Year’s Fundraising Efforts to Date

Holiday art gallery in Havre de Grace extends hours for holiday weekend. Proceeds benefit the city's public art initiatives.

The Public Art Committee in Havre de Grace is sponsoring a Holiday Gallery at 220 N. Washington Street in downtown Havre de Grace through December 24. Artworks in various mediums from local and regional artists and artisans are on sale including paintings, photography, textiles, jewelry, pottery, and glassware and much more. Proceeds are benefitting the Public Art Committee in Havre de Grace.

“Due to the diversity and the number of artistic creations this year, we are on our way to surpassing last year’s fundraising efforts,” said Bill Watson, Chairman of the Havre de Grace Public Art Committee and owner of Elementary Design by Watson in Havre de Grace. “New art is being added all the time, so we encourage the community to not miss this opportunity to own artwork by local and regional artists.”

Hours of operation are Fridays and Saturdays from 12noon to 8pm; Sundays from 12noon to 6pm. Extended hours for the Holiday Weekend are Friday and Saturday, November 25 and 26 from 11am to 8pm. The Holiday Gallery will be open from 10am to 3pm on Saturday, December 24 for those last minute gifts. Local nonprofits are invited to use this beautiful space during the holiday season on Mondays through Thursdays for holiday gatherings or meetings- at no charge. Plus, the Holiday Gallery will donate 10% of any art sales that occur during the time of the event!

The Havre de Grace Public Art Committee is a committee of Community Projects of Havre de Grace, Inc., a 501(c)(3) organization. Havre de Grace has identified public art as an important tool for economic and cultural development, one that can simultaneously strengthen the fabric and identity of the community and raise its profile throughout the region and beyond. The goal of this effort is to develop and implement a comprehensive public art program rooted in the heritage, architectural and natural beauty of this city and environs, and in its strong sense of place.
