Homes Evacuated For Gas Leak In Abingdon, Officials Say
People should avoid part of Abingdon Road due to a gas leak Wednesday morning in the area.

ABINGDON, MD — A section of Abingdon Road is closed Wednesday morning due to a gas leak, officials say. Homes in the area are also being evacuated.
Authorities were notified of the leak, which happened outside on Abingdon Road, at 9:11 a.m., according to Jen Chenworth, spokeswoman for the Harford County Volunteer Fire and EMS Association.
BGE was at the scene, and residents on Coyote Court were being evacuated, Chenworth reported after 10 a.m.

Abingdon Road was closed between B & O Road and Cogswell Road, Chenworth said.
Sewell Road was also closed, between Abingdon Road and Wolf Trail Road, she added.

The Joppa-Magnolia Volunteer Fire Company reported that its crew was responding to the natural gas leak, along with APG Fire and Emergency Services.
The public was advised to avoid the area.
