From HCPS: Homestead/Wakefield Elementary School students and staff recently recognized local police officers of the Bel Air Police Department.

The school’s student council decided in March to collect donations to make "Police Survival Kits." After receiving an overwhelming amount of donations, the Student Council members were able to make more than 500 kits. The kits consisted of cards made by all students, as well as candy and snacks to help make their difficult days a little sweeter.

The school invited local police officers in for a Pep Rally to show appreciation for their dedication and commitment to keeping the community safe. Students waved flags, held posters, and cheered on the officers as they paraded around the hallways of the school on May 17. The band even played a rendition of Cops for them!
