Horses Shot In Monkton, Harford Sheriff Investigating: Report
Authorities suspect the horses were targeted, and the shooting was not random.
MONKTON, MD — After two horses in Monkton were shot and killed, the Harford County Sheriff's Office is reportedly investigating the crime as targeted.
The show pony and retired racehorse were discovered at feeding time, around 6 a.m. Friday, according to WBAL, which reported the pony was dead and the racehorse succumbed to his injuries soon after being discovered.
A veterinarian is conducting a necropsy to determine more about the weapon used to kill the horses, according to WBAL.

Their owner, a woman who was keeping them in her boyfriend's pasture while hers was undergoing maintenance, went to feed them at the farm in the 4100 block of Old York Road when she saw what happened, according to The Aegis. Tenants on the property reported hearing gunshots between 11 p.m. and midnight but thought it was hunters, the newspaper reported.
