Two Crashes On I-95 In Harford County Jammed Traffic

Two crashes occurred Thursday morning in the same area of I-95 south in Harford County.

HARFORD COUNTY, MD — Two crashes have been reported in the same stretch of Interstate 95 south in Harford County Thursday morning. Drivers should use caution in the area, where both collisions had been cleared from the roadway by 8 a.m.

At 7:25 a.m., two vehicles collided on I-95 south before the exit for MD 152/Mountain Road, according to the Coordinated Highways Action Response Team (CHART). The crash was at mile marker 75.3.

The left lane was blocked on I-95 south before the Mountain Road exit, officials said after 7:30 a.m. The Joppa-Magnolia Volunteer Fire Company reported as it was headed to the scene that delays were already building in the area.

Two vehicles were involved in the first crash, which was reported before 6:30 a.m. The left lane and left shoulder were blocked for cleanup for less than half an hour near mile marker 75.2.

By 6:55 a.m., transportation officials said that the crash had cleared. However, traffic cameras in the area showed congestion remained on I-95 south of MD 24.

For those headed through the Fort McHenry Tunnel, there were additional delays after a tractor trailer became disabled and spilled fuel there. The right tube was closed for nearly two hours, causing backups on I-95 to the exit for I-695.
