Harford Schools Open Late; 2 Schools Close Early
Schools were operating on a modified schedule in Harford County on Tuesday, Jan. 16.

HARFORD COUNTY, MD -- Due to icy conditions, Harford County Public Schools modified the schedule for Tuesday, Jan. 16. Schools opened on a two-hour delay, and morning prekindergarten was canceled.
Two schools made the decision to close early, after school had begun. Edgewood High School and Deerfield Elementary School were closing early because of a mechanical failure at their respective campuses, officials announced. Walkers were dismissed by 10:30 a.m. and those who ride buses were dismissed starting at 11 am.
All after-school and evening activities are canceled at Edgewood High School and Deerfield Elementary School, officials said.

Icy conditions led to the delayed opening in Harford County on Tuesday.
Route 152 was closed between Belair Road and MD 152 because of ice before 6 a.m. on Tuesday, according to the Harford County Volunteer Fire and EMS Association.

After 7 a.m., the Joppa-Magnolia Volunteer Fire Company reported that Route 152/Mountain Road had reopened, following the application of salt by the State Highway Administration to the road.
A light mist was leading to icy conditions roads in the region from Perry Hall to Harford County, according to Fox 45.
Drivers should slow down, give themselves extra time and increase following distance on their morning commute.
Harford County is under a winter weather advisory for snow from Tuesday night through Wednesday morning.
