Improvements Coming to Boulton, Other Bel Air Streets
Some of Bel Air's roads, sidewalks and gutters are slated for makeovers.
Getting around Bel Air will soon be a lot easier. Town officials have approved construction for improvements to roadways, sidewalks and curbs.
Deputy Director of Public Works Steve Kline said that resurfacing work is planned for six local roadways (although not necessarily in the following order):
- East MacPhail Road between Homestead Park, just east of Jackson Boulevard
- Brooks Road between Thomas Street and Catherine Street
- Gateway Drive between English Manor Lane and Boulton Street
- Boulton Street between Tollgate Road and Maryland Route 24
- Old Orchard Alley between Moores Mill Road and Hall Street
- Robinson Alley between Hall Street and Howard Street.
On May 24, the approved an extra $26,500 for the project so that curb and gutter work could be added to the repairs slated for Boulton Street, which has already began. Randy Robertson told the board that some of the curbs have experienced sinking, causing gaps.

The move increases the town’s budget by $7,000. The funds will come from the Department of Public Works.
A total of 11,050 linear feet of curb and gutters will be reconstructed. Robertson said work should be finished by the end of June or early July.

Kline said the work would include new handicap ramps and sidewalks.
“We’re really improving that whole street,” he said.
