UPDATE: Fatal Crash Caused I-95 Shutdown
Authorities say one person died after crash on Interstate 95 in Harford County that caused hours and miles of backups.
UPDATE (Thursday, Dec. 10)—One of three drivers involved in a crash that stopped traffic on Interstate 95 Wednesday night near Joppa has died, according to Maryland State Police.
Bryanna Marie Ey, 21, of Baltimore County, was taken by medevac to shock trauma in Baltimore, where she died Thursday morning, police said.

PREVIOUS REPORT (10:30 p.m on Wednesday, Dec. 9)—After more than five hours, a crash on Interstate 95 in Harford County has cleared.
All lanes have reopened between the exits for MD 152 and MD 24, where a multi-vehicle crash was reported on I-95 north at approximately 5 p.m. on Wednesday, according to the Coordinated Highways Action Response Team (CHART).

First responders rescued a woman who was trapped inside one vehicle, according to the Joppa-Magnolia Volunteer Fire Company, which reported she was in critical condition.
A medevac reportedly took her to the University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center, and the highway was completely shut down from approximately 5:30 to 6 p.m. so the helicopter could land on I-95 south.
Shortly after the medevac left, southbound I-95 reopened; however, I-95 north remained closed until approximately 9 p.m. as Maryland State Police investigated the collision.
As lanes began reopening after 9 p.m., Joppa-Magnolia reported that delays were more than 9 miles long.
The crash involved a tractor-trailer and two other vehicles, according to WJZ.
UPDATE (9:15 p.m.)—One lane has reopened for northbound drivers on Interstate 95 in Harford County after a crash that shut down the highway Wednesday night, according to the Maryland Transportation Authority (MDTA).
The collision on I-95 north before the exit for MD 24 occurred during the evening rush hour, and I-95 was closed in both directions between approximately 5:30 and 6 p.m. as a medevac landed on the southbound part of the highway, officials said.
A backup of more than 9 miles remained in the area after 9 p.m., according to the Joppa-Magnolia Volunteer Fire Company, which responded to the incident along with Kingsville Volunteer Fire Company.
A woman who had to be rescued from one vehicle involved in the crash was in critical condition, Joppa-Magnolia Volunteer Fire Company reported.
In the hours following the incident, all lanes of I-95 north were closed while Maryland State Police conducted an investigation into the crash and worked to clear the scene, the MDTA reported.
After 9 p.m., transportation officials said that the left lane on I-95 before the exit for MD 24 had opened, while the right lanes were still closed in the area of the crash.
PREVIOUS REPORT (6:30 p.m.)—There is a backup stretching approximately 4 miles in Harford County due to a crash that temporarily shut down Interstate 95 near MD 24 during the Wednesday evening rush hour, according to the Maryland Transportation Authority.
All lanes of I-95 north will be closed in the area until approximately 7:30 p.m., the authority reported.
Southbound lanes on I-95 were open after 6 p.m., following a 30-minute closure for a medevac to respond.
First responders freed a woman who was trapped and in critical condition, according to the Joppa-Magnolia Volunteer Fire Company, which responded to the incident along with Kingsville Volunteer Fire Company.
A medevac was requested, set to land in the southbound portion of I-95, the Harford County Volunteer Fire and EMS Association reported at 5:45 p.m. Traffic cameras showed the helicopter leaving the area at approximately 5:55 p.m.
One person was said to be in critical condition as a result of the the three-vehicle crash, which transportation officials said occurred just after 5 p.m.
The Maryland Transportation Authority encouraged drivers to take alternate routes.
