Jarrettsville Supports Family After 2-Alarm House Fire

There are two places where people can donate to family that lost home, cat in house fire.

JARRETTSVILLE, MD – After longstanding Harford County residents lost their home to a fire last week, there are a few ways that people can reach out to help them.

According to the Jarrettsville Volunteer Fire Company, which helped put out the two-alarm blaze, the family that lived in the home on Boxwood Road resided in the community for 40 years and suffered "extensive damage" to their belongings.

People can donate to the family in the following ways, according to the fire company:

  • Go to any PNC Bank branch and ask to donate to the Hoskins Family Fire Fund.
  • Visit Jarrettsville Creamery and Deli from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Wednesday, May 11, when the eatery will donate 10 percent of proceeds to the Hoskins Family Fire Fund.
  • Donate using the jars that will be out at Jarrettsville Creamery and Deli on Wednesday, May 11. All money put in the jars will go to the family.

Tuesday's fire in the 3900 block of Boxwood Road caused $500,000 in damage and took the life of one cat, the fire marshal reported. Officials said no people were injured in the fire, which was ruled accidental.
