Jaws of Life Required in Joppa Crash, Officials Say
Two drivers were hospitalized, one taken by medevac, Joppa-Magnolia Volunteer Fire Company reported.

JOPPA, MD – Two drivers were hospitalized after their vehicles collided Wednesday in Joppa, requiring the “Jaws of Life” to save one, officials said.
At approximately 12:52 p.m. on Wednesday, first responders were dispatched to a two-vehicle crash where one driver was trapped, according to the Joppa-Magnolia Volunteer Fire Company.
Its crew used special tools including the “Jaws of Life” to get the seriously injured person out of the vehicle, before the victim was flown to shock trauma, the fire company reported. The driver suffered serious injuries that were not believed to be life-threatening, the report stated.

The other driver was taken by ambulance to Upper Chesapeake in stable condition, according to officials.
The crash occurred as first responders were also handling a triple fatal shooting in Abingdon, where one Joppa-Magnolia life member—Patrick Dailey—was killed. Dailey was one of two deputies shot and killed in the line of duty while responding to a call about a wanted person at Panera.
