​Jeffrey Douglas McKaughan, 60, of Forest Hill

Jeffrey Douglas McKaughan, 60, of Forest Hill, passed away on Jan. 17, 2017, at the Upper Chesapeake Medical Center in Bel Air.

Born in Baltimore, he was the son of Ted F. and Sidna R. (Carico) McKaughan. Jeff graduated from Bel Air High School in 1974 and subsequently received his bachelor's degree from Frostburg State University in 1977.

An early career in the airline industry fostered a love for travel. This love, along with an interest in the military and journalism helped launch a long career in the military publishing industry. It began with Darlington Productions which was responsible for the Magazine for the U.S. Army Ordnance Museum among others. Jeff continued his career at KMI Media group based in Rockville.

During his time with KMI, Jeff was able to travel the world and develop many lasting personal and professional relationships. In 2015 Jeff began the publication of three of his own military technology magazines through Defense House Publishing. He was proud of what was accomplished in a short time in production and was excited about what the future was to bring.

Jeff was a dedicated family man who always put the interest of others ahead of his own. Along with his parents Jeff is survived by his wife, Lynn A. (Gallucci) McKaughan; his children, Stephanie Ayn McKaughan, Allyson McKaughan Forkey and husband, Zachary, Kirsten Marie Szabad and husband, Michael Julius, and Chad Wesley Eberly and wife, Maureen Elizabeth; and was Paw Paw to Katherine Jane, Elizabeth Ann and Andrew Robert Jeffrey Eberly.

Visitation will be from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 22, at McComas Funeral Home, 50 W. Broadway, Bel Air, MD 21014.

There will be a visitation 10-11 a.m. prior to the service, which will be at 11 a.m. on Monday, Jan. 23, at McComas Funeral Home, 50 W. Broadway, Bel Air, MD 21014.
