
Joanne Spicer, 73, of Bel Air, passed away on March 18 at her home.
Born in Bel Air, she was the daughter of the late Joseph Z. and Velma Naomie (McCommons) Wolney.
A resident of Bel Air all of her life, she was the first female telephone linewoman and had worked at Aberdeen Proving Ground as a Surety Specialist. She was a very proud Harford County Master Gardener.

Mrs. Spicer is survived by her husband, whom she married in 1987, Charles P. VonHagel; sons, Samuel M. Spicer of Bel Air and John “BJ” Robert Spicer Jr. of Forest Hill; daughter, Toni D. Brush of Forest Hill; stepdaughter, Maria Christine Dickhoff of Felton, PA; grandchildren, Amanda and Nicholas Costanza; and great-granddaughter, Layla Fae Berry.
Visitation will be from 6 to 7 p.m. on Thursday, March 26, at McComas Funeral Home, 50 W. Broadway, in Bel Air.

The funeral service will be at 7 p.m. on Thursday, March 26, at McComas Funeral Home.
