Joppa Man Charged In Stabbing Over Drugs, Money: Sheriff

Police said a man was stabbed and injured in Joppatowne Friday afternoon.

JOPPATOWNE, MD — One man was charged and another was hospitalized following a stabbing in Joppatowne Friday afternoon, according to authorities.

Austin Jones, 28, of the 500 block of Eckhart Drive in Joppatowne, is charged with first- and second-degree assault and violating a protective order, court records show.

Officials said Jones stabbed a 26-year-old Joppa man in the arm after they got into an altercation about money and illegal drugs around 2:40 p.m. in the 200 block of Brittany Drive.

The victim was taken to Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center for what appeared to be injuries that were not life-threatening. Authorities said he was released from the hospital Friday night.

Jones is being held without bail, after a bail review Monday.

A preliminary hearing in the case is slated for March 3 in Harford County District Court.
