Julie Ellyn Designs Closes On Main Street, Moves Store Online

The store on Main Street has shuttered in downtown Bel Air, but Julie Ellyn Designs is still in business.

BEL AIR, MD — After three years on Main Street, Julie Ellyn Designs has closed. The unique jewelry store is still in business, but it has taken its sales all online. The store's last day open on South Main Street was Oct. 6.

Bel Air resident Julie Ter Borg opened Julie Ellyn Designs in October 2016.

At that time, the Main Street storefront made sense for Ter Borg, who had gained exposure once her jewelry appeared on "The Vampire Diaries" and other TV shows. As demand for her pieces grew, she left her job as an epidemiologist to pursue selling her handmade jewelry full time.

She started making jewelry as a way to relieve stress when she was in graduate school studying public health at Emory University in Atlanta.

Taking stock of her online growth and desire to focus on family this year, Ter Borg said: "It was great timing to not renew my lease."

"I am now selling online full time through my website www.JulieEllynDesigns.com," Ter Borg told Bel Air Patch Thursday, Oct. 17. "I will continue to be active in the community, supporting charities, the town and hosting local pop-ups."

She encouraged people to follow her on Instagram and Facebook to keep up with the latest, including the adventures of her dog, Charlie, who frequents Main Street and loves to shop local.

People can find her products on the Julie Ellyn Designs website.
